SHIMMERING CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS.

I dedicated last Sunday afternoon to Christmas home decorations: a fantastic family affair built about a Christmas tree discussing about the best way to hanging ornaments, while singing Christmas songs.
I think that nothing says Christmas more than glitter and gold for a town house. It creates a festive mood and announces the arrival of the holidays like anything else. I prefer it even to classical red, which I find more suitable to the more rustic style of either cottages or chalets. While gold looks great with almost every kind of furniture, especially with Parisian-chic style and period furniture. At the same time, it looks ethereal, if combined with white, for houses with a gustavian-style or classical modern look.
Today, I'm going to share my freshly made home decorations and some other elegant and dreamy gold & white, gold Christmas decorating ideas for you.
1. Golden Christmas trees:
All decorations on my Christmas tree are gold and have been collected through the years, since I have never been a fashion-addict as for Christmas decorating, and don't like to change ornaments every year according to new colour trends.
So, I advise you to choose a colour to stick to, and find out unique decorations that are an investment to be used in future too, just making new additions every year, to get a richly decorated tree and create a dramatic effect in your home.
2. Gold and white & gold gifts:
Wrapped gifts are essential not only to celebrate with your dear ones, but also to hide the unaesthetic base of your Christmas tree. So choose gold / gold & white wrappings and ribbons, perfectly matching with the tree ornaments.
3. A vibrant entrance:
Add shimmering details to your entrance, to create an immediate festive feeling in arriving guests. Mix golden ornaments to silver homeware which will be the highlight on either a consolle or table, as shown in these pictures.
4. Gold, white and silver ornament wreaths & garlands:
Place stunningly decorated wreaths & garlands on antique mirrors, or more traditionally, on the front door, to suggest a welcoming attitude to all visitors.

5. Gold and white cushions:
This is the easiest way to dress up your house, if you are a bit lazy about decorating: just lace some white and gold cushions on the sofa and you are good to go.
6. Tiny trees:
This another piece of advice for lazy-at-decorating readers, or readers who live in small apartments and don't want to renounce to a bit of Christmas atmosphere: place small trees sprinkled with gold in some strategically visual places, so your flat will not look unadorned.
8. Cheerful and warm mantelpieces:
If you are lucky enough to possess a fireplace at home, decorate it with small shimmering objects, such as lanterns, golden candle holders, tea-light holders, wreaths.
Also the traditional stockings for all family members can be transformed in an elegant addition to your mantelpiece, like the chic gold & white stockings in picture four, with floral stocking holders and embroidered names, which look great for a small, period fireplace.
Another gorgeous, modern way to dress the top of the mantelpiece is to add a Christmas sign; you can even print it out from collections of free printables, then frame for a quick décor.
9. Golden candles candle holders:
If you are in the crafting mood, decorate simple pillar candles or candle holders with golden spray paint, glitter and tape. They will go perfectly with your décor and will be an easy choice for either every piece of furniture or table-setting.
10. Lovely table settings:
Let your fantasy free on table setting, like the ones shown in the pictures, which I am head over heels in love with. And add some unconventional, great elements, like the stag in picture two.
11. White & gold festive-shaped biscuits and chocolates:
If you are good in the kitchen, you can make festive shaped biscuits with the help of a biscuit maker, adding a white & gold topping. They will provide a gorgeous display in the living-room, if stored in decorative glass jars or on cakestands, together with chocolates.

12. Ornamented window sills:
Window sill decoration ideas present fantastic ways to use the space, which is often neglected. Whether you live in a private house or in an apartment, I advice you to use this space as a lovely focal point or an accent in the interior of the room, adding harmony, style and a warmer atmosphere to your home.
So let's take inspiration from Nordic populations, who are expert in creating a magic mood by means of hurricane lanterns, candles and Swedish chandeliers to cheer up the hearts of passersbys during the long and dark winter nights.

13. Outdoor decorations.
Create dramatic effects in either your garden or terrace using fairy lights and lanterns as well as other festivity-themed objects, so as to find a sort of continuity with the interior of your house.
I hope my advice will be inspiring and help you to enjoy your holiday soirées with family and friends!
